Herman (Chaim Aviezer Zelig) Wouk (May 27, 1915 – May 17, 2019) was an orhodox Jewish American author and novelist. He published many novels and won a distinguished prize. One of his non-ficition books This is My G-d, the Rebbe was happy that there was a thirst to spread this book among IDF sooldiers and told him not to forget about the Jews in America.[1] He greatly supported Chabad institutions all over the world.'
His maternal grandfather, Rabbi Mendel Leib Levine, was a Chassid Chabad and that is what gave him his intial feelings for Chabad. Before leaving for war, at the request of his mother, he went to Rebbe Rayatz to receive a blessing from him. The Rebbe Rayatz, as he told other soldiers at the time, told him to make sure to put on Tefillin and handed him a dime. He first audeince with the Rebbe was in 5731 before flying out for a dinner in London to be a guest speaker there.[2][3]
In 5745 the Rebbe encouraged him to publish sections of the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch in braille, after he was intrumnetal in a project of the Chumash in braille.[4] Template:References
