We Want Moshiach Now (Carlebach)
The melody We Want Moshiach Now is a tune that was accepted among Chabad Chassidim even though it was composed by Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, towards whom the attitude in Chabad Chassidus is somewhat reserved.
The song expresses the anticipation and desire for Moshiach.

The origin of the melody is from Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, who composed it to the words 'Mekimi me'afar dal' (He raises the poor from the dust), with the entire melody based on these words repeating over and over in an endless cycle, similar to the style in many of his songs.
The melody spread rapidly even among the Charedi public and yeshiva students despite the general reservation about his approach, and became common property as one of the well-known songs sung by all circles and communities in the Jewish people.
Following this, Chabad Chassidim adapted the melody to words connected with the belief in the coming of Moshiach, during the years when the Rebbe raised the level of engagement with faith and spreading the message of the imminent Redemption, in the late 5740s and early 5750s (late 1980s and early 1990s).
