Tomchei Tmimim Shchedrin
The Tomchei Tmimim Shchedrin Yeshiva was a branch of the Tomchei Tmimim yeshiva network that operated in the town of Shchedrin between the years 5670-?.
Establishment of the YeshivaEdit
The yeshiva was founded in the year 5669 after a group of robbers and murderers attacked one of the houses in the town and murdered seven of its residents.
The frightened townspeople sent a delegation to Rebbe Rashab and asked him to strengthen the spirits of the residents by establishing a branch of the Tomchei Tmimim yeshiva in the town.
Their proposal was accepted, and after Sukkot of the year 5670, the first group of students from the Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch Yeshiva (from the group that studied in Babinovitch) moved there.
The opening of the yeshiva, along with the arrival of important Chassidic figures to live in the town, breathed new life and vitality among the residents.
