The name A-L is one of the seven names of the Holy One, Blessed Be He, that cannot be erased. It is explained that the name A-L represents the attribute of kindness (Chesed), as it is written, "the kindness of G-d all day," and it is the name of the vessel of the Sefira of Chesed in the world of Atzilus. In Derech Mitzvosecha regarding Names, it is explained that the name A-L is above the order of Hishtalshelus (gradual descent of divine light).

A-L HAVAY-AH edit

The name A-L HAVAY-AH concerns the drawing down of the name A-L, which is the first correction of the 13 Tikkunei Dikna (corrections of the beard), which is drawn down and revealed in the world of Yetzira through the name HAVAY-AH and is called A-L HAVAY-AH. The gematria (numerical value) of A-L HAVAY-AH is 57, and this name illuminates in the world of Yetzira to 57 thousand, etc.

In the 13 Tikkunei Dikna edit

There are two names A-L in the first correction of the 13 Tikkunei Dikna of Atik, which are drawn from two names Elokim in Atik, except that the letters Yud-Hey are in the forehead, one on the right and one on the left, while the names A-L are in the Tikkunei Dikna, at their beginning, and from there is the root of all 13 attributes of mercy.

From the first Tikkun, which is the Tikkun of A-L, the worlds of Briah, Yetzira, and Asiyah (BYA) are drawn down. This is what is stated in the Idra Rabba (page 132a) regarding the three worlds that emerge from the first Tikkun, etc. This appears to be a great wonder - how could there be such a leap in levels from the 13 Tikkunei Dikna of Arich Anpin of the world of Atzilus, which is the source of Atzilus, that from this would be drawn down the three worlds of BYA? Rather, the explanation is that, on the contrary, in order for the light to descend so far below to the worlds of BYA, it must come from the most elevated source, because due to its supreme loftiness, it can lower itself even further below. This is why this Tikkun is "Mi El Kamocha" (Who is like You, G-d), which means "Who is like You, G-d" that can lower Himself so far below.

The drawing down of the Tikkun of A-L to the worlds of BYA is through the three names: A-L SHAD-AI, A-L HAVAY-AH, and A-L ADONA-I. The name A-L SHAD-AI draws from the Tikkun of A-L to the world of Briah, the name A-L HAVAY-AH draws to the world of Yetzira, and the name A-L ADONA-I draws to the world of Asiyah.
