Rabbi Naftali Hertz Minkowitz

Reb Naftali Hertz Minkowicz (Naftali Hertz Minkovitch) (1912 - February 20, 1985) was a graduate of the Tomchei Tmimim yeshiva network, appointed over the Dmei Maamad in Paris, and from 1953 until his passing, he was involved in education and teaching in the Crown Heights neighborhood.

Born in 1912 to his father Reb Yitzchak Yaakov Minkowicz in the town of Nevel. In his youth, he studied with the chossid Reb Yisroel Levin, and in the Tomchei Tmimim yeshivas of Vitebsk, Polotsk, and Nevel under the chossid Reb Yehuda Haber.
In 1940, he married Mrs. Tanya, daughter of Reb Peretz Chen.
In 1947, he fled together with many Chabad chassidim from the Soviet Union during the Great Escape and eventually arrived in France.
With the passing of his father in 1950, he was appointed as the overseer of collecting Dmei Maamad in Paris.
In 1953, he traveled to New York and raised a generation of chassidim and tmimim.
He passed away on February 20, 1985.
