A museum is a venue where collections in a specific field or several fields are concentrated: works of art, art objects, antiquities, science, and so forth.

Visit of the Rebbe Rashab[edit | edit source]
The Rebbe Rashab visited the Louvre Museum in Paris, and he wrote a letter in which he expressed his admiration for the works of art while demonstrating knowledge of the painters' names and interpretation of the works. The Rebbe Rashab was impressed by three paintings by the famous painter Raphael, especially the painting depicting a courtroom scene in Rome and a young boy, and even provided an explanation regarding the lessons that can be derived from them in divine service.
Building a Museum[edit | edit source]
In response to an organization that wanted to build a museum in memory of Holocaust victims in Globake, the Rebbe wrote that instead of investing money in building a museum that would not benefit the murdered in any way, it would be better to use it to spread Judaism among people from Globake, which would certainly provide an elevation for the holy souls.

In 5737 (1977), a Jewish exhibition was held in New York. The exhibition was successful, and as a result, it was decided to establish a Jewish museum that would deal with basic topics in Judaism. The construction of the museum took several years, and in 5765 (2005), the museum was inaugurated in Crown Heights. The museum has six floors and includes Jewish exhibits, games, and kosher restaurants.
On 3 Iyar 5766 (2006), the museum won the Government Building Award for Art and Culture.

In 5761 (2001), a museum was inaugurated in the town of Lubavitch, focusing on the history of Chabad in the town.
The Largest Jewish Museum in the World[edit | edit source]
In 5773 (2013), the largest Jewish museum in the world was inaugurated in Moscow, Russia, dealing with periods in the history of the Jewish people from the creation of the world until our time. The museum was built over eight years, on an area of 9,000 square meters, and includes sophisticated technological accessories. It was built in cooperation with the shluchim (emissaries) in Russia.
