Makom Panui (Empty Space)

Makom Panui is the term for the void created by the Tzimtzum (contraction/concealment), which came into being to allow for the creation of the worlds.

Its Concept edit

When it arose in the will of the Holy One, blessed be He, to create the worlds, He was compelled, as it were, to contract the Ohr Ein Sof (Infinite Light) in order to form a void and empty space.

The essence of the Makom Panui is the aspect of the concealment of revelation of light. The light was included within the essence of the Emanator, called Ma'or (Luminary). The Tzimtzum did not cause any essential change in the light itself, but is comparable to the latent potential within a teacher who contains the revelation of intellectual influence when he ceases to teach.

Within this empty space remained the Reshimu (impression) from the Ohr Ein Sof that existed before the Tzimtzum. And from this Reshimu extended the Kav (line) and thread which is the source of the order of Hishtalshelut (chain-like descent of worlds) that followed the Tzimtzum.
