Baruch (son of the Mitteler Rebbe)
Appearance
Rabbi Baruch (Shmuel)[1] was the second son of the Mitteler Rebbe. He was apparently named after his great-grandfather, Rabbi Yisroel Baruch Posner, the father of the Alter Rebbe.[2]
On the 1st of Elul 5582 (August 17, 1822), he married the Rabbanit Beila Reiza, the daughter of his paternal uncle Rabbi Chaim Avraham, a son of the Alter Rebbe. The volume Maamarei Admur HaEmtzaee — the collected maamarim (Chassidic discourses) of the Mitteler Rebbe — contains several discourses delivered by the Mitteler Rebbe at the wedding celebration.[3]
Family[edit | edit source]
- His son, Rabbi Shneur Zalman Schneerson, served as the rabbi of the city of Bakhmut.[4]
- His son, Rabbi Shmuel Aharon Schneerson, passed away on the 1st of Cheshvan 5603 (October 5, 1842).[5]

- ↑ Beis Rebbi, ch. 11. However, as noted below, the gravestone of his grandson Rabbi Shmuel Aharon was discovered in the town of Lubavitch, which suggests his name may have been simply Baruch, without the addition of Shmuel.
