Gershon Avtzon

Rabbi Gershon Avtzon (born in 5741/1981) is the Rosh Yeshiva of Tomchei Tmimim Cincinnati, Ohio, and a member of the World Shluchim Convention Committee of Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch.
Life History[edit | edit source]
Rabbi Avtzon was born on the 28th of Shevat 5741 to his father Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Avtzon. He studied and was educated at Tomchei Tmimim Yeshiva in Flatbush. He studied for two years at Tomchei Tmimim Toronto, Canada under the guidance of Rabbi Akiva Wagner. After a year of studies at Ohel Torah, he returned for two years of shlichus at Tomchei Tmimim Toronto. In 5764, after a year of studies at the Central Tomchei Tmimim 770, he received his rabbinical ordination.
After his marriage on the 3rd of Shevat 5765 to his wife Mrs. Fruma, daughter of Rabbi Avraham Simpson, he studied in the Kollel Avreichim in Crown Heights for one year.
After receiving an offer from Rabbi Sholom Dovber Kalmanson, the Rebbe's shliach to Cincinnati, Rabbi Avtzon moved to Cincinnati with his wife in 5766, where he established Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim Cincinnati. Since then, he has served as the Rosh Yeshiva there.
Rabbi Avtzon is known for his extensive experience working with young people. Since age eighteen, he has taught and managed summer camps in Portland, Oregon; Budapest, Hungary; St. Petersburg, Russia; Hamilton, Ontario, and more.
Rabbi Avtzon is a renowned lecturer, primarily on matters of Geulah and Moshiach and education.
Rabbi Avtzon also serves as a member of the World Shluchim Convention Committee of Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch.
In 5783, Rabbi Avtzon began publishing weekly articles in Beis Moshiach newspaper on various topics to inspire Anash worldwide.
His Shiurim[edit | edit source]
Many of the shiurim have been edited and are sold in stores. There was a period when he gave weekly global shiurim on Geulah and Moshiach through the Chabad Info news website.
Additionally, Rabbi Avtzon writes weekly articles on matters of Geulah and Moshiach, education, and holidays that are published in Hebrew weekly in Beis Moshiach magazine, on the Chabad Info news website, and are sent to thousands via email. The first series of his articles were collected and edited and published as a booklet by the 'Vaad Sichos in English' in Tishrei 5771.

"Moshiach, What We Believe" (5 discs). Released Nissan 5769 - Topics include: 1. Sources in Chazal about belief in Moshiach's coming, and Chassidim's belief in the Rebbe as King Moshiach. 2. The feast of the Wild Ox and Leviathan. 3. The coming of Eliyahu HaNavi. 4. The Beis HaMikdash - including shiurim on Temple vessels and priestly garments. 5. Explanations of the Rebbe's sichos from 5751-5752.
"The End of Days" (4 discs). Released Teves 5770 - Topics include: 1. Differences between various types of "end times" in Chazal. 2. The war of Gog and Magog. 3. The Ten Tribes and the Sambatyon River. 4. Moshiach ben Yosef. 5. The Revival of the Dead (released Cheshvan 5772).
"Building the Beis HaMikdash" (one disc). Released Sivan 5770 - Topics: Laws of the Chosen House in Rambam.
"Mivtzoyim and Moshiach" (one disc). Released Nissan 5771 - Topics: Each shiur is dedicated to one of the ten mivtzoyim and how it prepares the entire world for the complete Geulah.
One of the yeshiva's graduates launched a special website to sell the discs. The site offers the ability to listen to several shiurim and sign up for weekly emails.
