Rebbetzin Rachel Sheines was the third daughter of the Alter Rebbe.

Biography

Rachel was born in Vitebsk on 10 Iyar 5530 (May 5, 1770),[1] to her father the Alter Rebbe and her mother Rebbetzin Sterna.

Her husband was Rabbi Avraham Sheines, son of Rabbi Tzvi Sheines.[2] The wedding took place in 5551 (1791).

Rabbi Avraham and Rebbetzin Rachel were married for five years.[3]

Rebbetzin Rachel passed away at a young age on 9 Menachem Av 5556 (August 4, 1796),[4] leaving behind a son who also passed away at a young age.[5]

Rebbetzin Menucha Rochel Slonim, daughter of the Mitteler Rebbe, who was born on 19 Kislev 5559 (November 28, 1798), was named after her.
