A Chassidisher Derher (magazine)

A Chassidisher Derher is a monthly publication printed in English by Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim Ha'olami, primarily for bochurim in Tomchei Tmimim. The magazine focuses on Chassidishe hashkafa, stories, and comprehensive coverage of various aspects of Lubavitch including the Rebbe's mivtzoim, takanos, minhagim, and other inyanim.

The first gilyon was printed as a weekly publication for the bochurim in Tomchei Tmimim for Shabbos Parshas Mishpatim, Shevat 5771, with four black and white pages. For nearly a year, the format remained the same until Parshas Vayeira 5772, when Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim Ha'olami was first noted as the mosad responsible for the publication.

Approximately a month later, they produced their first expanded magazine with 24 color pages including rare pictures of the Rebbe. For the next two years, they continued publishing the weekly gilyon while also producing expanded editions for special chassidishe occasions. In 5773, following Shabbos Parshas Devorim, they switched exclusively to monthly magazines.

The kovetz became one of the main peulos of Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim Ha'olami. As of 5782, their distribution includes:

• 2,000 copies to yeshivos throughout America
• Over 3,000 private subscribers
• Approximately 20 Lubavitch kehillos worldwide
• Hundreds of shluchim
• Around 45 mosdos chinuch

As of Nissan 5782, they had published 117 issues. One of their primary goals was to influence the conversation in yeshivos and provide a platform for mashpi'im's perspectives, while instilling chassidishe warmth - as reflected in the name "A Chassidisher Derher" (a Chassidic feeling).

In 5781, they made their complete archive available online with a detailed index, providing free access to an extensive collection of Chassidishe content. They maintain an ongoing collaboration with JEM, which provides access to their photo archive regularly featured in the magazine.
