Born in Brooklyn in 1929 to his father R' Shaul Goldman and his mother Mrs. Chana.

In his youth, he became close to Chabad and studied at the Central Tomchei Tmimim Yeshiva in the Rebbe's courtyard at 770 between the years 1943-1952.
