Rabbi Shneur Schneersohn was the son of Rabbi Menachem Nachum (son of the Mitteler Rebbe).

When he came of age, he married in his first marriage Rebbetzin Rada Freida, daughter of the Tzemach Tzedek.

His wife passed away in her youth. Following her passing, he married Rebbetzin Golda Schneersohn, daughter of Rabbi Baruch Shalom Schneersohn.
