'''The Future Redemption''' is one of the fundamentals of Jewish faith, that a time will come when the Jewish people will return to their land and serve Hashem in perfection, and then peace will prevail and Hashem's glory will be revealed throughout the entire world. The prophecy about it was stated and repeated numerous times in the Torah, Prophets, and Writings. The description of the Redeemer and the period of Redemption and its occurrences were described by the prophets, and explained extensively by the sages of Israel throughout the generations. Yet they said about some of the details (such as the time of Eliyahu's coming) - "And all these matters and similar ones, no person will know how they will be until they happen." | |||
The anticipation for Redemption is part of the faith in its coming. A person must awaken himself to anticipate and request the coming of Moshiach, the building of the Temple, and the ingathering of Israel. In the prayer text, prayers and requests for Redemption were established dozens of times, due to it being among the most important needs of the praying Jew. | |||
However, with the revelation of Chassidic teachings, new clarity was added to all topics related to Redemption. The reason for this is that the revelation of Chassidus itself is also part of the revelation of the light of Redemption, which is why in the teachings of the Chassidic leaders they emphasized the connection of Torah and mitzvot to Redemption in general, as well as the constant anticipation and yearning for Redemption. | |||
The aforementioned theology was expressed by the Chassidic leaders, whose longing for Redemption penetrated their entire being and was prominent in their leadership; but especially in recent generations - beginning with the Rebbe Rashab who established the Yeshiva "Tomchei Tmimim" and aroused in his talks that the yeshiva students are "soldiers of the House of David" fighting against those who blaspheme the footsteps of Moshiach. This awakening was strengthened by his son, the Rebbe Rayatz, especially during the Holocaust period which constituted - according to his words - "the birth pangs of Moshiach." The leader of our generation, the seventh in the dynasty of Chabad leaders, announced upon accepting his leadership that our generation is the last generation of exile and the first generation of Redemption, and concluded from this that Redemption is not an additional matter to the reality of the generation and its conduct but is intertwined like a thread through every detail of them. | |||
In recent years, the Rebbe Shlita Melech HaMoshiach has spoken on this subject incessantly, and announced that the work of exile has been completed, and all that remains is to receive Moshiach in actual reality. | |||
