The holy Rabbi Shalom Shachna was born on 20 Elul 5532, to his father Chassid Reb Noach Altshuler, who was among the chassidim of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vitebsk, and to his mother Ruchama, sister of the [[The ~~Magid~~ of Mezritch|Maggid of Mezritch]].
