''Extended entry - '''Bechezkas Moshiach'''''
The Rebbe of Lubavitch - King from the House of David

The Rambam is the only halachic authority who defined the process of Geulah and revelation of Moshiach. The Rambam established that Melech HaMoshiach must be a human being of flesh and blood, born of a woman, descended from King David.

== Events Following the Assembly ==
On the day after the assembly, Erev Shabbos Parshas Tazria-Metzora, 6 Iyar, Rav David Nachshon presented the signatures to the secretary Rav Groner to bring them to the Rebbe. Shortly after, the response came:
"Received with appreciation, may the activity continue and increase, and the time is appropriate, as given by the power of our Chachamim Zichronam Livracha and their blessing that whoever adds, they add to him, and especially the blessing of Hakadosh Baruch Hu whose addition is greater, etc.
The time is appropriate as we come from the month of Nissan and its influence and enter the month of Iyar (an acronym for the Avos and Rachel - the fourth leg) as explained in several places.
In the year 5751 (Hey Tehei Shnas Arenu Niflaos). I will mention it at the Tzion."
== Continued Activities ==
On 8 Iyar 5751, Rav David Nachshon, along with several other Chabad chassidim, wrote that at an assembly of more than ten askanim and mashpiim, it was decided to continue the 'Kabbalos HaMalchus' signatures. To this letter - which included additional signatures - the Rebbe responded: "I will mention it at the Tzion and may you report good news."
In Kislev 5752, the Rebbe responded to Rav David Nachshon regarding a report about people signing the 'Kabbalos HaMalchus' forms and about a lecture he gave on the topic "The Rebbe as Moshiach" at a special evening attended by public figures: "May it be fulfilled in them that one who has 200 wants 400 etc. I will mention it at the Tzion."
During the years 5752-5754, the Rebbe approved and encouraged the signature collections many times, sometimes connecting it to the agreement of the local Chabad shliach, and many times giving general approval. To shluchim who reported that they were involved in collecting signatures accepting the Rebbe's malchus, the Rebbe responded with encouragement and expressed satisfaction. During this period, there were also responses and reactions where the Rebbe expressed reservation about being referred to as Moshiach.
== Women's Activities ==
On 3 Kislev 5752, N'shei Chabad presented to the Rebbe a box containing signatures of women accepting the Rebbe's malchus. A woman presented to the Rebbe a drum with the inscription "Yechi Adoneinu Moreinu v'Rabbeinu HaMelech HaMoshiach L'olam Va'ed."
In 5752 during the Lekach distribution on Hoshana Rabba, a group of ten N'shei Chabad women passed before the Rebbe, presenting him with an envelope containing signatures of women accepting the Rebbe's malchus. The delegation's spokesperson said: "We are here, a minyan of women 'am kshei oref' (stiff-necked people) requesting that the Rebbe reveal himself to all as Melech HaMoshiach and take us out of golus immediately." In response, the Rebbe gave a dollar and said: "Amen, much success, good tidings. For the letter, for the Pan, and for the names."
Following this, on Rosh Chodesh Mar Cheshvan, a special gathering was held with the declared purpose of: awakening the people to accept the Rebbe's malchus, particularly through signatures on the declaration of accepting his malchus. The invitation to the event was sent to the Rebbe who gave his encouragement.
After the gathering, the women prepared a detailed report listing the main topics discussed, including: the need to awaken the attribute of malchus of the king through kabbalas hamalchus, the special power and obligation of N'shei Yisroel in bringing the geulah, and the special importance of the letter and signatures. To this report, the Rebbe responded: "I will mention it at the Tzion again for continued great and wonderful success in everything."
The day after the gathering, during dollars distribution, a group of women approached and brought the Rebbe a box containing kabbalas hamalchus signature forms. The delegation's spokesperson said: "Boruch Hashem there is wonderful activity in the campaign of 'U'bikshu es Hashem Elokeihem v'es Dovid Malkom' - and they found, and it's spreading among N'shei Chabad, and throughout the entire world and to all the shluchos, we hereby accept, N'shei u'Bnos Chabad, the presence of Moshiach Tzidkeinu, the Rebbe, and may he lead us upright to our land." The Rebbe replied: "Amen" (looked at the box and said:) "This is for me? Good tidings," (looked again at the box and signatures, and added:) "For all matters one needs to pay to tzedakah and there should be great success, and to go from strength to strength until you go to Elokim in Tzion in the true and complete geulah. Blessing and success, great success."
== The Teves Gathering ==
Towards Chodesh Teves, the N'shei Chabad organization in Crown Heights decided to arrange a gathering for women of the neighborhood and area to be held in 770, under the title "Seudas Kabbalas Ponim L'Moshiach Tzidkeinu." During the planning stages, they reported this to the Rebbe, who responded: "I will mention it at the Tzion and the time is appropriate and the matters should be with great success etc."
Later, a decision was made not to keep the event within an internal framework, but to publicize it throughout the world. Following this, when publicity began, an additional response and special blessing came: "Received with appreciation and may the activity continue and increase."
During the evening, women representatives wrote a letter to the Rebbe, on behalf of all participants at the gathering in 770 and all participants via broadcast - worldwide and on behalf of all of Beis Yisroel who are ready and waiting at this moment for the king's revelation. Among other things, it stated: "Hod Malchuso Kvod Kedushas Admur Shlita Melech HaMoshiach, N'shei Yisroel in general and N'shei Chabad in particular, are ready to receive Moshiach Tzidkeinu and hear the words of his honor in a way of 'Torah Chadasha Me'iti Tetze' at the seudah arranged in his honor, and pray that we merit the true and complete geulah with ananei shmaya etc. immediately mamash." To this letter, the Rebbe responded: "And all who bless are blessed with the blessing of Hakadosh Baruch Hu whose addition is greater than the main, and especially a special blessing at a special time. I will mention it at the Tzion."
During the evening, Rebbetzin Sima Ashkenazi from Kfar Chabad stood and proclaimed "Yechi Adoneinu Moreinu v'Rabbeinu Melech HaMoshiach L'olam Va'ed."
Rav Chaim Baruch Halberstam from Merkaz Shidurei Chabad submitted to the Rebbe a report about 129 points in cities and countries worldwide that participated in the live broadcast of the Melave Malka, to which the Rebbe responded: "Received with appreciation for the nachas ruach that was and is caused, I will mention it at the Tzion."
Later, N'shei Chabad in London sent a report to the Rebbe detailing their activities in learning inyanei Moshiach. In response, the Rebbe instructed them to work in connection and coordination with N'shei Chabad of Crown Heights, with the Rebbe especially emphasizing their recent activity: "Received and its attachments, and appreciation, and may it be with great success. And surely they are in contact with N'shei Chabad here, to know about their recent celebration here. I will mention it at the Tzion."
== The Satellite Event ==
Approaching 10th of Shevat 5753, several activists from the World Headquarters for Bringing Moshiach gathered, including: Rabbi Shmuel Butman, Rabbi Menachem Gerlitzky, Rabbi Yaakov Spritzer, Rabbi Moshe Rubashkin, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Pritz, and Rabbi Zusha Zilberstein. They began organizing an event centered on accepting the Rebbe's kingship through the proclamation of 'Yechi'. Along with the gathering, they planned to incorporate the celebration of completing a painting about Yemos HaMoshiach by artist Mr. Michael Schwartz. The painting, which was commissioned by the Rebbe from the artist previously, was completed on 11th of Nissan the previous year (5752) but was delayed due to events. Before the gathering, Mr. Schwartz asked the Rebbe to complete this on 10th of Shevat, and the Rebbe responded affirmatively. During the week before the event, the organizers submitted the gathering's program and request for blessing, and the Rebbe nodded in approval.
Following the publication, various elements within Chabad began to restrict the organizers' steps. The Rabbonim who were concerned about this published a warning not to publicize the event in the media. On Thursday, 6th of Shevat, three days before the gathering planned for Sunday, the organizers submitted to the Rebbe all program details, including: live broadcast of the event worldwide via satellite. The Rebbe responded with 'consent and blessing' to the program. Following the Rebbe's consent to broadcast the event, the Rabbonim convened to cancel their previous announcement, writing: "Clarification - In light of explicit consent and blessing from the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach Shlita (as conveyed by mazkir Rabbi Leibel Groner) to conduct a satellite (hook-up) on Sunday, 9th of Shevat at 5:00 PM, we hereby announce that nothing follows the king's word, (and therefore the note delivered in the name of the Beis Din regarding the above is null and void)." Signed on behalf of the Beis Din: Rabbi Yehuda Kalman Marlow, Rabbi Yitzchak Hendel, and Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi.
== The Event Itself ==
The gathering opened at 5:00. After Rabbi Moshe Teleshevsky read the Rebbe's kapitel in Tehillim, the MC, Rabbi Shmuel Butman, began with an explanation about the event. The evening's speakers included: Rabbi Yehuda Kalman Marlow, representing the Crown Heights Beis Din; Rabbi Shneur Zalman Gurary, representing Vaad Rabonei Lubavitch and Agudas Chassidei Chabad, who explained the nature of this event - not as a coronation, since the coronation of Melech HaMoshiach is done by Hashem, but rather as kabbalas hamalchus by the people. Additionally, Rabbi Yitzchak Hendel spoke and read the psak din that the Rebbe is Melech HaMoshiach, and Rabbi Yoel Kahan also spoke.
During the event, the Rebbe came to the shul where the gathering was being held for Maariv. After the tefilah, the Rebbe entered the balcony and watched the completion of Mr. Schwartz's painting. Rabbi Gurary blessed the Rebbe and said: "At this time when the Rebbe accepted the nesius... we bless the Rebbe with the bracha of 'Yechi Adoneinu Moreinu V'Rabbeinu Melech HaMoshiach L'olam Va'ed'." The entire kehillah proclaimed 'Yechi' three times together with him, and immediately began singing 'Yechi'. The Rebbe looked at the crowd opposite and surveyed the photographers' platform. The niggun continued for over 8 minutes, at the end of which the Rebbe signaled to close the curtain. Media in Israel and worldwide covered the event and discussed it in the following days. During the event itself, over twenty representatives from major television networks worldwide were present at 770, broadcasting the event live. That evening, the annual Super Bowl game was delayed by several hours, and meanwhile, the event from 770 was broadcast. The viewing audience reached tens of millions.
== The Emunah After Gimmel Tammuz ==
On Gimmel Tammuz 5754, the Rebbe was concealed from our sight; however, based on his words, the chassidim believe that he continues to live eternal life. Among Chabad chassidim, there are various views and approaches regarding Gimmel Tammuz, but all believe this is part of the geulah process and anticipate that the Rebbe will be revealed as Melech HaMoshiach, and that the Rebbe continues to lead our generation. In this context, chassidim reference Chazal's words that "our Moshiach will be concealed after being revealed and will return and be revealed again."
On Vov Tammuz 5754, an urgent assembly of all Chabad Rabbonim in Israel was held, where it was decided to continue with publicizing Moshiach's identity, and they also instructed Kfar Chabad newspaper to continue publishing the 'Yechi' proclamation on the newspaper's cover (the newspaper ignored this instruction and consequently Beis Moshiach newspaper was established).
In 5755, massive gatherings were organized that publicized the fact that Chabad chassidim believe the Rebbe is Melech HaMoshiach, and that he is alive and exists.
In 5758, a psak din was written for the first time stating that the Rebbe is Melech HaMoshiach according to halacha, with hundreds of Rabbonim signing this psak din.
Rabbi Aharon Soloveitchik published after Gimmel Tammuz an announcement in the Jewish Press: "Regarding the belief of many Chabad chassidim... that the Rebbe can still be Moshiach - in light of the Gemara in Sanhedrin, the Zohar, the Abarbanel, the Arizal's writings, the Sdei Chemed and other sources - I cannot say that this belief is outside the Orthodox stream."
From then until today, Chabad chassidim continue to publicize the besuras hageulah with emphasis on the identity of the goel. Among other things, organizations were established including The Association for the Geulah, Mateh Moshiach, Mamash and others that engage in spreading the message through campaigns, pamphlets and gatherings.
