The teachings of Chassidus can be described as the study of the inner nature of all beings and their relationship to The Creator, Blessed be He. It deals with the way the world was created by the Creator, with detailed reference to the various degrees of divine power and life in His descent to revive and sustain creation. The ability of created beings to know the Creator and keep His commandments. It also deals with the essence of divine revelations, in the Torah, the Mitzvot, prophecy, the Temple, and so on. It deals extensively with the principles of Emunah, and the exalted status of the souls of Israel and how they were chosen by G-d to learn Torah and keep the Mitzvot.

Chassidus looks at all topics through one fundamental idea: that everything in the world is measured by the quality of its relationship and recognition of G-d. The true value of any being depends on its relationship with G-d, and the greatness of anything is based on how much G-dliness is revealed in it. Based on this, Chassidus explains the importance of the Mitzvos, showing how each one reveals a special aspect of divine power and revelation.

The teachings of Chassidus were initially revealed by The Baal Shem Tov at the end of the 5400s and were spread throughout the European Jewish community by his students in the subsequent years. Upon his ascension to the role of leadership, The Alter Rebbe founded the framework of understanding Chassidus known as Chassidus Chabad. In his teachings, the Alter Rebbe expounded upon the foundations of Chassidus, explaining it with numerous parables, explanations, and relatable examples. Over the years, with the additions and explanations added to it by the Alter Rebbe's students and successors, the teachings of Chassidus Chabad expanded to a great abundance of maamarim, biurim on previous works and intricate topics.
