Rabbi Shlomo Hochler

Rabbi Shlomo Hochler (1921 - 21 Shvat 2009) was among the founders of the Chabad community in Toronto and the local Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim, where he served as a mashpia in the yeshiva and as a rabbi in the Talmud Torah.

Life History[edit | edit source]

Rabbi Shlomo Hochler was born in 1921 and studied at Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim in Otwock. On 13 Sivan 1940, he began studying at Tomchei Tmimim in Vilna. When he reached marriageable age, he married Mrs. Ita and together they moved to Toronto.

He was among the founders of Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim Toronto and the local Chabad community. He served as a mashpia in the yeshiva and community. Over the years, he worked at the "Eitz Chaim" Talmud Torah, where he educated many students, including Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Silverman.

He passed away on Shabbos - 21 Shvat 2009 at the age of 88.
