The foundation of this tractate is the verse "v'chi yutan" ("when it is given"), from which we learn that even if the seven liquids came without a person's intent, they still prepare items to receive impurity, since the meaning of the word "yutan" implies they came by themselves. However, there is an additional condition: the person must agree and be happy that the liquids came upon the item, since it is written "yutan" without a vav, to teach that it needs to be like "yiten" - in the manner of giving, where the person himself is happy and agrees with it.

One of the topics discussed in the tractate is the law of "nitzok" (pouring stream), which according to halacha is not considered a connection. When a person pours from one vessel to another, the water in the two vessels is not connected to each other, except in certain situations. On this matter, there is a detailed sicha from the Rebbe explaining the Rambam's approach on this subject, according to both the revealed Torah and Chassidus.
