Born 1 Cheshvan 5642 (1881) in Kishinev (Moldova) to R' Avraham Schneerson, son of Reb Yisroel Noach ben Admur The Rebbe the Tzemach Tzedek, and Rebbetzin Yocheved. Married the Rebbe Rayatz on 13 Elul 5657 (1897) at age 16. The Rebbe Rashab specifically chose this match for his only son over two other potential matches, wanting him to marry within the family. During her husband's imprisonment in summer 5687 (1927), she managed all rescue efforts despite personal danger under Communist rule. After giving birth to her daughter Chana, she became deaf. The condition was severe - during Nazi bombing of Warsaw, she only heard faint sounds. She relied on lip reading and kept paper and pen nearby for communication. Following her husband's passing on 10 Shevat 5710 (1950), she lived in seclusion, dedicating days to Tehillim and prayer. On holidays, she warmly welcomed her daughters and visitors. The Rebbe initially forwarded her letters addressed to "Beis HaRav Lubavitch." Initially opposed the Rebbe's leadership, supporting her elder son-in-law R' Shmaryahu Gurary (Rashag) as successor, but later changed her position. Fell ill in early Teves 5731 (1970) and passed away on 10 Teves 5731 (1970). Buried in New York near the Rebbe Rayatz's ohel. During her lifetime, the Rebbe would conduct holiday meals in the Rebbe Rayatz's home with a minyan of chassidim. They would set a place at the head of the table for the Rebbe Rayatz with plates, cup and challos. This continued until her passing. == Family == Daughters: * Chana Gurary * Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson * Rebbetzin Sheina Horenstein Siblings: * Brother: R' Ben Tzion Schneerson * Sister: Mrs. Malka Shasse (married to R' Pinchas Zanis)
