{{Template:Mivtzoim}} One of the Rebbe's Ten Mivtzoyim (campaigns), Mivtza Ahavas Yisroel was announced by the Rebbe in 1976. == History of the Mivtza == The Mivtza was announced by the Rebbe on Chai Elul 5736 (1976), in a sicha where the Rebbe spoke about how every Yid must work with others and influence their immediate environment with the mitzvah of "Ahavas Yisroel," which means that every Yid must love another Yid "like yourself." In accordance with all the Rebbe's Mivtzei Hamitzvos being "general mitzvos" which require extra care and enhancement, Mivtza Ahavas Yisroel stands at the forefront, as this mitzvah is, in the words of Chazal, "a great principle in Torah" and "the entire Torah." The Rebbe expressed that all the Mivtzoyim he announced are founded and based on "Mivtza Ahavas Yisroel," because the explanation for fulfilling this mitzvah is that all of Am Yisroel is "one complete structure," like one body, to the extent that every Yid says about another Yid that he is "his own flesh and blood." Therefore, the fulfillment of any mitzvah by one Yid affects another Yid, particularly a mitzvah that is general and fundamental - such as the mitzvos chosen by the Rebbe for special enhancement. == Details of the Mivtza == The purpose of "Mivtza Ahavas Yisroel" is to influence another Yid to love another Yid "like yourself," with all the implications that follow from this. Like all the Rebbe's Mivtzei Hamitzvos, this Mivtza is not about personal fulfillment of the mitzvah, but rather about influencing others in matters of Ahavas Yisroel. The Mivtza includes both Ahavas Yisroel towards a 'stranger,' and all the more so towards someone close and dear, like members of one's household. == See Also == * Ahavas Yisroel == External Links == * Vaad Chayolei Beis Dovid, Teima M'haGeulah, collection about Ahavas Yisroel * Shabtai Weintraub, Actuality from a Chabad Perspective, print from the book, 5780 (2020) [[Category:Mivtzoim]]
