Internet is a global computer network connecting many different computer networks and linking billions of computers worldwide. The scope, the vast amount of information stored on web pages and websites, and the extensive commerce it facilitates - transformed the Internet by the end of the 1990s into a highly significant factor and an arena for economic and cultural development. Of course, the advantages and disadvantages of proximity to good and evil are multiplied through the Internet, which increases the importance of the Internet when used for good, but causes it to be a disaster on a large scale when used improperly. == Using the Internet to Spread the Chassidus == Internet websites are one of the means used by Chabad chassidim to spread Chabad teachings to the entire world. Additionally, Chabad websites serve to disseminate information and enable communication among chassidim. These sites often serve as a central and vital channel of information and communication for shluchim living in remote locations. Following the Rebbe's instructions, Chabad chassidim utilize all advanced means to bring the message of Judaism and Chassidus to the world. Even in the early days of radio broadcasting, the Rebbe encouraged giving Tanya classes on the radio, and similarly addressed the broadcasting of Chanukah candle lighting via satellite from 770 to locations around the world in the year 5750 (1990). == Risks on the Internet == On the other hand, the Internet poses a danger of severe addiction and exposure to immodest matters, causing moral deterioration and casting off the yoke of Torah among adults, teenagers, and children. In light of this, Chabad rabbis have firmly established that Internet use should be done after consulting with a rav or mashpia and with proper filtering. == See Also == * Chabad on the Internet * Yosef Yitzchak Kazen == External Links == * What is healthy use of the Internet and modern technology? β’ Fascinating lecture on Chabad's approach for listening, on the website 'Lachluchus Geulatis' * Chabad is protecting itself - letter from Chabad Rabbinical Court * Karen Kaplan, Running to WhatsApp: Fascinating investigation of the addictive epidemic, from Derech HaMelech magazine, 7 Adar II 5774 (03/09/2014) he:ΧΧΧ ΧΧ¨Χ Χ
