'''Herman (Chaim Aviezer Zelig) Wouk''' (May 27, 1915 โ May 17, 2019) was an orhodox Jewish American author and novelist. He published many novels and won a distinguished prize. One of his non-ficition books ''This is My G-d'', the Rebbe was happy that there was a thirst to spread this book among [[IDF]] sooldiers and told him not to forget about the Jews in America.<ref><nowiki>https://videos.jem.tv/video-player?clip=4069</nowiki></ref> He greatly supported Chabad institutions all over the world.' His maternal grandfather, Rabbi Mendel Leib Levine, was a Chassid Chabad and that is what gave him his intial feelings for Chabad. Before leaving for war, at the request of his mother, he went to Rebbe Rayatz to receive a blessing from him. The Rebbe Rayatz, as he told other soldiers at the time, told him to make sure to put on Tefillin and handed him a dime.
