'''Great Britain''' (generally: The United Kingdom) is a country located opposite Western Europe, with 70 million residents. The country consists of four nations that previously existed as separate countries: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The capital of Britain is London. A queen stands at the head of Britain and 14 additional countries, and it is the central country among them.

Britain has a large community of approximately 389,000 Jews, and extensive Chabad activities that have existed for three generations.

== Manchester ==

Manchester is the city with the largest Jewish concentration in the country after London, including over 35,000 Jews.

The settlement of Chabad chassidim in the city began already in the time of the Rebbe Rashab and the Frierdiker Rebbe, and prominent Chabad chassidim lived there, such as Rabbi Avrohom Sender Nemtzov and Rabbi Menachem Tzvi Rivkin who also served there as rav.

Other prominent Chabad figures in the city were Rabbi Zalman Jaffe who merited many kiruvim from the Rebbe, and Rabbi Yitzchok Dubov who brought many young people closer to the ways of Chassidus.

In 5731, the Rebbe sent Rabbi Chaim Farro to the city to work in spreading Yiddishkeit, and in 5742 Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim was established in the city under the leadership of Rabbi Yosef Akiva Cohen and Rabbi Yitzchok Klein.

Today the Chabad community in the city numbers over 100 families, and the prominent activists there are the Rebbe's shliach and director of the Torah Center Jewish Centre Rabbi Peretz Chen, and the director of the Talmud Torah Rabbi Menachem Mendel Cohen.

== Chabad Activities in Britain ==
Tzeirei Agudas Chabad in Britain coordinates the activities of Chabad Chassidus and hafatzas hamaayanos in England. The organization was established by Rabbi Sholom Ber Butman in 5717, under the direct shlichus of the Rebbe.

Rabbi Bentzion Shemtov gathered all Anash in London, and together with Rabbi Sholom Ber Butman they established and elected a board for the organization. The first elected director was Rabbi Shmuel Menachem Mendel Liberow.

Over the years, Rabbi Zalman Jaffe greatly assisted the activities and operated the organization, with the help of his son-in-law Rabbi Shmuel Lew, and the head shliach Rabbi Nachman Sudak.

The organization's center is in London and is called "Lubavitch House." The branch is managed by Rabbi Faivish Vogel. The organization has branches throughout England. The head shliach, Rabbi Shmuel Lew, currently stands at the head of the organization.

Britain's representative in the Chassidic UN is Rabbi Bentzion Shemtov.

* The shliach to Britain, Rabbi Nachman Sudak received a special honor from the Queen.
* The Rebbe's shliach Rabbi Chaim Mendelsohn was invited to a special garden party with the Queen of England on behalf of the Canadian Federation of Chabad.
* In 5769, before the celebrations held in England for the Queen's birthday, a list of citizens who were commended for their contribution to the public was published including two Chabad chassidim R' Dovid Shimon Segelman and R' Aryeh Sufrin.
