Reb Avraham Schneerson was the son of Rabbi Yisroel Noach of Niezhin, the Rebbe of Chabad-Nezhin, and father-in-law of the Frierdiker Rebbe. == Life History == Born in Lubavitch to his father Reb Yisroel Noach Schneerson (the Maharyin). In 1875, he married Rebbetzin Yocheved Schneerson, daughter of Reb Yehoshua Falik Sheinberg from Kishinev. However, at his wife's birth on 3 Adar I 1859, her father's name was listed as Ephraim-Fishel, and indeed they had a son named Ephraim-Fishel. After his marriage, he settled in Kishinev and devoted himself to Torah study, developing a deep Torah friendship with his childhood friend Reb Tzirelson. He was known for his great righteousness. The Rebbe Rashab told the Frierdiker Rebbe that truth and humility could be learned from his mechutan. When his father the Maharyin passed away, the chassidim of Nezhin asked Reb Avraham to take his father's position as Rebbe, but he refused. He attended the Rebbe's wedding, sitting at the head table next to his son-in-law the Frierdiker Rebbe and next to the Rebbe. He passed away on 2 Cheshvan 1937 and is buried in Kishinev, Moldova. His wife passed away at age 60 on 16 Cheshvan 1920. Around 2002, his grave was discovered in the old Jewish cemetery in Kishinev. In Cheshvan 2012, before his yahrtzeit, it was renovated by the Chevra Kadisha of Kishinev and the Chief Rabbinate of Moldova under the leadership of shliach Reb Zalman Abelsky and coordinated by the grandson of Moldova's Chief Rabbi, shliach Reb Menachem Mendel Zalmanov. == Family == * His daughter Malka-Sosya, born 1886. Wife of Reb Pinchas HaKohen Zunis. In her second marriage, she married Reb Nachum Schneerson, her father's brother. * His daughter Bracha-Liza, born 26 Av 1884 * His son Ephraim Fishel.
