== Psak Halacha by Moshe Rabbeinu == The Gemara states that Moshe Rabbeinu was in place of the Sanhedrin in his generation, and he could rule on halacha by himself. The commentators are divided on whether in the days of Moshiach, when Moshe Rabbeinu will be resurrected, he will be able to rule on halacha without the assistance of the Sanhedrin. The Rebbe, in a private audience with Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, noted that Moshe Rabbeinu will only be able to rule regarding laws that are "mipi hashmuah" (from oral tradition), but for matters that are derived "min hamidot shehatorah nidreshet bahen" (through the hermeneutical principles by which the Torah is interpreted), the Sanhedrin will be the deciding authority.
