== Protection and Salvation == The Rebbe said that many tragedies could have been prevented if Mivtza Mezuzah had existed twenty years earlier. Chazal write in the Gemara that the mezuzah protects the house and its inhabitants, even when they leave the house. The Rebbe publicized this virtue of the mezuzah and explained it based on the Gemara's emphasis on the mezuzah's protective power. The Rebbe added that every individual mezuzah established on a doorpost adds protection and salvation for all of Klal Yisroel, and enhances the effect of all mezuzos already established by all Bnei Yisroel.
