== Determination of Halacha == In the days of Moshiach, Halacha will be decided according to Beis Shammai, who generally tend to be stringent, and not according to Beis Hillel, who tend to be lenient. This differs from the time of exile when Halacha is determined according to Beis Hillel. In the writings of the Arizal, it is written that the reason for this is because the root of the souls of Beis Shammai is from the attribute of Gevurah (strength/severity) and Beis Hillel is from the attribute of Chesed (kindness). Since in exile, kindness prevails over severity, Halacha was decided according to Beis Hillel. However, in the future to come, when severity will prevail over kindness, Halacha will be decided according to Beis Shammai. Another reason mentioned in Chassidic writings is that since the approach of Beis Shammai is above the world, therefore in the time of exile, because the world cannot contain the approach of Beis Shammai, the Halacha is according to Beis Hillel. However, in the days of Moshiach, when the world will change, the Halacha will be according to Beis Shammai. Some argue that in the days of Moshiach, Halacha will be determined according to Beis Shammai only in cases where they are strict, and not in every situation. The Rebbe, in one of his talks, discussed whether when Moshiach comes during Chanukah, the Halacha will immediately change to follow Beis Shammai, requiring lighting according to Beis Shammai's opinion, or not. The Rebbe brought that in the first period of the days of Moshiach, the Halacha will be according to Beis Shammai, and in the second period of the days of Moshiach, the Halacha will be according to both Beis Shammai and Beis Hillel together, which will be possible through the power of "impossibility of the impossible." In other places, it is brought that in the future to come, Halacha will be determined according to Rabbi Meir and Rashbi, unlike during the time of exile when the Halacha is not according to them.
