== General Description == Lubavitch (Russian: Любавичи) is a small rural locality in the Rudnyansky District of Smolensk Oblast, Russia. It is situated approximately 15 kilometers southwest of Rudnya and 63 kilometers west of Smolensk. The town holds immense historical and spiritual significance as the original center of the Chabad-Lubavitch Hasidic movement, which derived its name from the town. Lubavitch served as the residence of the Chabad Rebbes from 1813 to 1915. Today, it is visited by Chabad adherents and Jewish pilgrims from around the world who come to connect with their spiritual heritage.
