== In Dor Hashvei == Unlike previous Rebbes who would personally transcribe their teachings, almost all of the Rebbe's maamarim and sichos were transcribed by various "manichin" (transcribers), with the Rebbe editing the content only in some cases. The unedited sichos are printed on a page with a single column, unlike the edited sichos which are (usually) printed on a page with two columns. In the early years of his leadership, the Rebbe strongly objected to having the unedited transcriptions printed in a regular format. Only material that was edited or signed by the Rebbe was approved for print (and even this was not common). The Rebbe permitted the unedited sichos to be distributed via "copier," as it was called then, using a typewriter or a duplicating machine ("stencil") that worked with spirit and printed in blue ink. The "hanachos" (transcriptions) were therefore completely internal publications, and their distribution was done hand-to-hand in a very limited number of copies. Over time, a generation of "chozrim" (those who would memorize and repeat the Rebbe's words) and "manichin" grew up and learned the Rebbe's unique style, while also receiving instructions on the correct way to write the sichos according to his holy wishes. The quality of the unedited transcriptions improved, and it became possible to print the sichos in the conventional format, with just a disclaimer at the bottom of each page stating "Bilti Muga" (unedited). According to rumor, when the publication of "Toras Menachem Hisvaaduyos" began in 5753 (1993), the Rebbe approved of having just a single mention at the beginning of each sicha or maamar that it was unedited.
