Rabbi Meir Plotkin (born 5702/1942) is a respected elder among Chabad chassidim known for sharing oral traditions, a member of Agudas Chassidei Chabad in Montreal, and a businessman. He merited to receive special attention from the Rebbe. == Life History == Born in 5702/1942 in [[Montreal]], Canada, to R' Shmariyahu and Mrs. Chana Devorah, who were among the few families keeping Torah and mitzvos in Montreal at that time. The family's origins trace back to Kremenchug and Zlebin, Russia. He studied at Tomchei Temimim in Montreal for several years and at Yeshiva Torah Vodaath in Williamsburg. He became close to Lubavitch and went to study by the Rebbe at 770, until his marriage in 5725/1965 to Sarah Leah, daughter of [[Rabbi Yitzchak HaKohen Hendel|R' Yitzchak Hendel]], Raavad of Montreal. He had significant influence in encouraging HaGaon R' Pinchas Hirschprung to participate in the Rebbe's farbrengens.
