'''[[the Alter Rebbe|Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi]]''' (the Alter Rebbe) -  The founder of Chassidus Chabad and the first of the [[Seven Rebbes of Chabad]],also known as the "Baal HaTanya" or "HaRav". The Alter Rebbe authored the [[Tanya]], the [[Shulchan Aruch HaRav]], as well as other works of Chassidus published after his passing. Born on the 18th of Elul 5505 in the city of [[Liozna]], in the Mogilev region of Tsarist Russia (modern-day Belarus), to [[Baruch (father of the Alter Rebbe)|Rabbi Baruch]], a student of the [[Baal Shem Tov]] and a descendent of the [[Maharal of Prague]] and passed away on the 24th of Tevet 5573.
