'''Rabbi Shneur Zalman Mordechai Schneersohn''' (5600 - 24 Nissan 5626/1840-1866) was a rabbi in Zhitomir, author of the treatise "Shem HaGedolim" on the Shulchan Aruch of the Alter Rebbe, as well as a book titled "Hearot V'Chidushim" (Notes and Novellae). == Life History == He was born to Admor Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn (son of The Tzemach Tzedek) of Avrutch and was a grandson of The Tzemach Tzedek in the year 5600 (1840). His sister was Rebbetzin Shterna Sarah, wife of Admor Rashab. At the age of seventeen, he was already appointed as rabbi of the city of Zhitomir. He married Rebbetzin Peril, his cousin, the daughter of Rebbetzin Devorah Leah Zalmanson, daughter of The Tzemach Tzedek. On 24 Nissan 5626 (1866), he passed away at only 26 years of age. This was approximately two weeks after the passing of his grandfather, The Tzemach Tzedek.
