This category contains pages with {{xtag|syntaxhighlight}} calls which have encountered errors in parsing, or where the tagged material is too large.

To correct errors, just define [https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-extensions-SyntaxHighlight_GeSHi/blob/master/SyntaxHighlight.lexers.php a known computing language name] as an [[Attribute (computing)|attribute]] of the <code><nowiki><syntaxhighlight lang="..."></nowiki></code> tag. Setting it to <code>text</code> suppresses all errors. Some languages are not yet supported. If the language is valid, do not change or remove the name of the language just to remove the maintenance category. The real fix is to get the language supported by [http://pygments.org/ Pygments].

The current size limits are 1,000 lines or 102,400 bytes.

This category is sorted by page name and ignores the namespace. [{{fullurl:Special:Search|profile=advanced&search=incategory%3A%22{{urlencode:{{MediaWiki:Syntaxhighlight-error-category}}}}%22&ns0=1}} This search] only displays articles in the category (may include recently removed articles).

Many languages (mostly obscure) were de-supported due to the switch from [[GeSHi]] to Pygments for [[syntax highlighting]] ([[phab:T85794]]).  Fallbacks may be added to [phabricator.wikimedia.org/diffusion/ESHG/browse/master/SyntaxHighlight_GeSHi.compat.php SyntaxHighlight_GeSHi.compat.php] where languages are sufficiently similar.
