Synagogues and Study Halls Will Be Established in the Land of Israel
In the future era, all synagogues, study halls, and Chabad Houses that existed during the time of exile will be transferred to the Land of Israel and will be connected to the Third Holy Temple.
In the Sources edit
It was taught in a baraita: Rabbi Eliezer HaKappar says: In the future, the synagogues and study halls of Babylon will be established in the Land of Israel, as it is said, "For like Tabor among the mountains and like Carmel by the sea, he shall come." And this can be derived through a kal vachomer (logical deduction): If Mount Tabor and Mount Carmel, which came only temporarily to learn Torah, become established in the Land of Israel, then synagogues and study halls where Torah is read and disseminated, how much more so! — Megillah 29a
Reward for Synagogues and Study Halls edit
The synagogues and study halls that protected the Jewish people (from cold and heat) so they could study Torah, and which absorbed the letters of Torah and prayer, will receive their reward by being established in the Land of Israel.
Destroyed Synagogues edit
Even synagogues and study halls that have already been destroyed will also be re-established in the Land of Israel.
Private Homes edit
Even private homes that were made into mini-sanctuaries will be transferred to the Land of Israel.
Relocation from Outside the Land to the Land of Israel edit
Method of Relocation edit
The synagogues and study halls will be relocated from their places together with the earth and soil beneath them.
Therefore, this also creates a halachic change in several matters:
No Need for a Condition edit
According to halacha, after building a synagogue it is forbidden to nullify the place and building of the synagogue and move to another location, unless a condition was made from the outset that it is only temporary.
But since they will be established in the Land of Israel together with the earth beneath them, the entire halachic problem of relocating a synagogue is eliminated, because together with the synagogue being established in the Land of Israel, it also remains in its place, on the same earth. Therefore, it will also have the advantage of being outside the Land (transformation).
Same Established Place edit
According to halacha, one must recite the after-blessing in the same place where one ate, and there are situations where one must return to the place of the meal if they left in order to recite the after-blessing.
But if the Redemption arrives in the middle of a meal, and the house moves together with the person to the Land of Israel, one can make the after-blessing in the Land of Israel, because it is not considered a change of place when one moves with the house and the earth beneath it.
Order of Relocation edit
The Third Holy Temple (which is "built and perfected, and will be revealed and come from heaven") will first be revealed in "the House of our Rebbe in Babylon" - 770, and from there it will be relocated to its place in Jerusalem.
Together with all synagogues and study halls throughout the world that will be established in the Land of Israel and in Jerusalem, connected to the Temple, and together with all the Jewish people from all corners of the earth.
Connected to the Holy Temple edit
All synagogues will be established in the Land of Israel, in the great Temple in Jerusalem.
Therefore, "they said in the Midrash that in the future, the Holy Temple will be as large as Jerusalem is in this world... because in the Jerusalem that will be built in the future, all the places of synagogues that were in this world will be joined together to the Temple."
The order of connecting the synagogues from outside the Land to the Third Temple will be according to and in proportion to the different levels among them - the special synagogues that have an additional advantage over other synagogues (such as "the synagogue of Hutzal and the synagogue of Shaf v'Yativ in Nehardea," "the House of our Rebbe in Babylon") will be the first to be connected to the Temple, and will be literally connected to the Temple (touching and adhering to it without any separation between them), and through them and by their means, all other synagogues in the lands of the nations will be connected to the Temple.
Har Sinai in the Days of Moshiach edit
In the Midrash it appears that "In the future, the Holy One, blessed be He, will bring Sinai, Tavor, and Carmel to build the Beit Hamikdash (Holy Temple) upon them," as it is said, "And it shall come to pass in the end of days, that the mountain of Hashem's house shall be established at the top of the mountains" - these are the three mountains mentioned.
In fact, the Carmel and Tavor, like Har Sinai, were not originally in Eretz Yisrael. At the time of Matan Torah (the giving of the Torah), these mountains detached from their places and approached Har Sinai in order to learn Torah, and as a reward for this, the Holy One, blessed be He, took them and permanently placed them in the Holy Land. From these words, the Gemara concludes that "synagogues and study houses in which people read and spread Torah are destined to be established in Eretz Yisrael," because if "Tavor and Carmel, which came only to learn Torah temporarily, were established in Eretz Yisrael - synagogues and study houses all the more so."
On this basis, the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach says that Har Sinai will also detach from its location and be established in Eretz Yisrael. For on this mountain, the entire reality of Torah in the world was born; The Torah learned in all synagogues and study houses is the Torah that was given at Matan Har Sinai, so certainly its reward should be at least like theirs, if not greater.
Indeed, with the conclusion of Matan Torah, all holiness was removed from Har Sinai and today it is a mundane place in every respect - a fact that is expressed in the lifting of the prohibition to ascend it or touch it that was in effect throughout the event. But logic dictates that when all the synagogues and study houses in the world will be sanctified and merit to ascend to the Land - holiness will return to Har Sinai and it too will arrive in the Land.
