Rabbi Nissan Mindel

Rabbi Nissan Mindel (2nd of Nissan 1912 - 12th of Tammuz 1999) was a member of the Rebbe's secretariat and one of the secretaries of the Frierdiker Rebbe, as well as an accomplished writer and activist.

Life History[edit | edit source]

Born on the 2nd of Nissan 1912 in Riga, Latvia, he studied in the educational institutions of Rabbi Chaim Mordechai Aizik Hodakov.

After his marriage to the daughter of Rabbi Avraham Sender Nemtzov, he was appointed as secretary to the Frierdiker Rebbe and left Europe together with the Frierdiker Rebbe, who took him along to the United States.

Rabbi Mindel merited to work for many years in the secretariat of the Frierdiker Rebbe and subsequently for the Rebbe.

Over the years, Rabbi Mindel worked in the Kehot Publication Society, authored and edited books, and was involved in organizing the spread of Yiddishkeit. Additionally, Rabbi Mindel served as the chief secretary of Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch and as a board member of Machne Israel and Agudas Chassidei Chabad worldwide.

On the 12th of Tammuz 1999, he passed away and was laid to rest in New York near the Ohel of the Frierdiker Rebbe.
